How long to wait before sending a Evite reminder?

Anonymous
Sent out Evite 2.5 weeks before the party. It's been a week and several people haven't opened the Evite. A couple have opened, but not RSVPed. When would you send a reminder? And can I assume that people will not show up if they haven't opened or RSVPed? It is at a venue and not a home party. DD in kindergarten so it's my first time doing this. I don't think it's a spam filter issue because everyone in our area uses Evite.

When's the RSVP deadline?

I didn't put a deadline. The venue said they will call me a few days before to confirm the headcount. They are handling food so that's not an issue, either. I would just like to know so I can buy enough cake and have enough favors. And if the majority left are "NO" then I would want to invite DDs other friends.

3 days before, unless otherwise dictated by venue.

Man. Is it safe to assume the handful of people who haven't even opened the Evite won't bother to open or RSVP until I send out a reminder? And what if they don't respond to the reminder? I'm afraid invitees randomly show up and we don't have enough food or something.

I don't want to double the amount of cake I have to buy "just in case"

I would update the invitation to include "please RSVP by date" with "date" being the day before you need to buy favors, hopefully a week ahead of the party. Then set the reminder to go out a day or two before that

If you care about the people that haven’t opened it, I would text them. Email can be totally overwhelming and people miss stuff.

I usually send the reminder the Monday before the birthday (so usually 5-6 days before).

I'm not on texting terms with the people who haven't opened it. It's people from DD's classroom and dance.

Send it a week before

Email them separately! Someone just emailed me a couple days before their kid’s party — good thing bc the evite had gone into spam and I never saw it.

Email or call each family that hadn’t responded by your rsvp date. You need a count.

Send a direct email with the link to people who haven’t opened it. Sometimes it gets sent to spam or maybe they missed it

I never open evites until I’m ready to respond (check family calendar, ask kid whether they want to go, ask DH whether there’s anything that hasn’t made it onto the calendar yet) because I know the host can see once I’ve opened it.
