Stone Ridge email today re abuse lawsuit

Head of school sent an email about abuse allegations and a lawsuit against the school. They named the alleged abuser, who has since passed away. The email urges anyone who may also have been abused to come forward. As an alum, this is quite sad to hear but it’s good that they are being up front in the handling. It’s also unlikely that many staff who was around then is still around now to corroborate the story.

Really hoping other victims will feel comfortable with coming forward and being heard.

Got the same email. Disappointing as an alumn but seems like they are getting ahead of any concerns.

Does the letter refer to the nun that’s accused of abusing a former student?

There isn’t much information.

It was a former nun. She left the order and is now deceased.

Per the letter, the person has not worked at the school for over 50 years, so unless you were there in the early 70s or earlier you did not overlap with the person.

The victim said the alleged abuse happened in 1974–49 years ago. It wasn’t “over 50 years.” Stop trying to exaggerate, even a little, to minimize this horrible allegation.

You can Google this information to read a statement directly from the victim.
