Is Langley pyramid really better than Justice or Falls Church pyramid? They are public schools. Just curious. |
In terms of academic success, yes. Langley's boundary is very segregated to only include wealthy parts of Greats and McLean vs. Falls Church and Justice which takes a lot of Section 8 style apartments, and most of the wealthier residents there don't send their kids to the aforementioned schools. |
I have to think you are a troll if you haven’t figured out that public schools vary significantly based on the SES of the area. Now is it because the teaching is better or bc the peers/expectations are different? |
And the outside tutoring a-plenty. |
I think the question is a real one. High SES families come with their own problems, and schools aren't necessarily "better" because of it. |
Well if ranking, average SAT scores and college placement are any indication, those schools are, in fact “better”. |
It’s better in that there a fewer fights, less vaping and drug dealing, lower teen pregnancy rates, more advanced classes, fewer disruptive kids. They don’t have a lot of the challenges schools with many FARMS and ESOL kids have. The actual teachers aren’t better. |
There might well be more vaping and drug dealing at Langley than at Justice and Falls Church. |
I do think that Conservative Families should get school choice if they have to be assigned to a Title 1 pyramid. The problem with the current FCPS is that they enable every pyramid with these problems. |
The rich can be criminals. We had arms dealers (parents) at our high SES high school (not FCPS) |
Yes it is |
National Populists have a belief system that counteracts with a lot of the policies of FCPS, so if they truly want to understand political inclusiveness, then they need to look into all options. |
I would argue that there is PLENTY of vaping and drugs at Langley |
I don’t know if the academics are better or not, but it is certainly more competitive at Langley in terms of getting into college because many of your peers are high achievers. That said, my kids got an excellent education at Langley and were more than prepared for college. We also loved the chorus program at Langley! ![]() |
Wealthier kids, higher test scores, and more sophisticated electives? Yes. More "affluenza," less empathy and diversity, and more drugs? Yes, as well. |
