Since there are no results on the MLS Next website, why don't folks drop the results for the local teams here.

Agree. I've forgotten all the scores that I saw posted but it was similar to the prior week. Maybe 1 win and 1 tie out of 10 games or so.

Seems like Achilles teams are the 'confidence builder' opponents in MLS Next.

The toxic yelling, screaming, berating and cursing of the Achilles coach at his young players is mind boggling.

Par for the course.
His teams seem to be getting worse and worse, so maybe it's finally catching up to him.

Notwithstanding the 9-2 win, SYC style of play is meh. Seems to be the plan was to pounce on Achilles mistakes, of which there were many, and run with it, or make long passes. Or to pass to the goalie to boot the ball. If there was a game for SYC to practice possession and create plays, this was it. Achilles kids skew smaller and SYC seems to be big and faster kids.

That said, good defending for SYC players. Getting the ball from Achilles players was way too easy.

I watched the first half of this. Probably 4-1??
SYC is such a frustrating team to watch. I've seen them several times over the past three years. They have excellent individual players. I'm sure some of that is due to coaching and some is definitely due to recruiting. They are a physically imposing team. In this case, they are bigger and faster than Achilles at almost every position. But they don't play well together. Their goals aren't created by coordinated play. They rely heavily on consistently strong man marking, deep goal kicks, winning second balls, corners and crosses. How many times in that video did I hear "put it in the box" or "second ball." They shoot everything near the box and if they have it wide in the midfield either fire a deep diagonal pass or carry it down the line for a cross. This is all fine, and effective, if you're physically superior. But only if you're physically superior.

Technically Superior beats Physically Superior.
Technical + IQ Superiority beats just Physical.
Technical + Game Intelligence beats just Physical.
(See: Philly Union for example or old Barcelona)

If the Just Physical beats and dominates you, then you're not doing what you should with and without the ball, especially as a team.

I agree with points 2 and 3. Maybe not 1 if you're talking about individual players only. And I agree with the conclusion. And none of it is in conflict with the idea that SYC only wins when they're physically superior (almost always). They have physically imposing players that are technically good. They have neither "IQ Superiority" nor "Game Intelligence," if those things are different.

FWIW, we have played a few SYC pre-MLSNext teams and they can play possession soccer and win playing that way, although closer games. I wonder if they just stop doing that once they get to MLSNext levels. Which is unfortunate. They have a some good kids with physical advantages and it’s a shame if those kids don’t continue to develop their individual skills by playing games that uses those skills.
