| I believe St Andrews has rolling admissions. If that is true, how quickly do applicants hear back if they apply in mid to late October? |
| A lot depends on the program you are applying to and stats. You it can be anytime between November and late spring and get either a conditional or unconditional offer. |
|
For applicants via the Common App, deadlines are
Medicine: 6pm (GMT) 16 October 2023 All other undergraduate courses: 6pm (GMT) 31 January 2024 for all other MA or BSc undergraduate applications. |
| I think DC applied in January, heard back in April |
|
Applications and admissions are rolling though. I would say it normally takes more than a month, potentially a few.
As an international, it's probably worth it to apply earlier. |
| My DC was also applying to Cambridge so had to abide by the UCAS deadline of 10/15. DC received an unconditional offer right around Thanksgiving. |
Did they get into Cambridge? What subject! |
| It depends on what major they are applying to. The admissions office reviews the application and then send it on to the department your kid applying to for approval. Then you can get a conditional or non-conditional acceptance- though I think it's more common for US kids to get non-conditional. Conditional would be like contingent on a certain AP score or final grade which is scary but is the norm for the British and Scottish kids to have to wait until their final exam scores are in before they know if they are really going. And we in teh DCUM thought we were stressed!!! |
| Mine applied last October (around the 20th I think) and heard on Dec. 2. |
| OP here. Thanks everyone! This is all new to my DC and me. |
