Where to look for a tutor familiar with MCPS math curriculum?

Anonymous
With the end of MCPS-sponsored tutoring, I’m not sure where to start. It looks like Tutor Me could still be an option, but I’d prefer in person. Anyone have any recommendations for local tutoring companies or tutors familiar with MCPS middle/high school math curriculum?

If they need a tutor the class is too hard. Have them drop down a level, but still tell your friends that your kid is in the higher level.

Super helpful. Thanks!

OP every MCPS teacher of math who also tutors has their name on an excel spreadsheet, detailing online or in person availability, which math specialty and sometimes, their hourly rate.

Any teacher in your kids school should be able to provide you with this document. It is updated each year.

Best advice you’ll get here. Truth to power.

What an a##! You are a total idiot. Haven't your parents taught you "if you have nothing good to say, keep your mouth shut"?.

We've used Wyzant. This is the best option for someone who may not necessarily need an ongoing tutor. If you just need someone to explain the topics to support homework and/or just to catch up, then this is the way to go.

I recommended the MCPS math teachers who tutor list. We got that after trying 6 different and totally useless Wyzant tutors. They all charged double and most of them were completely unfamiliar with the MCPS curriculum and were trying to teach an entirely different version of math, some of them were making more mistakes than my kid. I would strongly advise you to go the MCPS route and avoid Wyzant entirely.
