| If so, that’s new. |
| It's officially off for a Professional Development day. Not necessarily for Columbus Day. |
| I think it's new. Last year it was an open house type day for parents to come in and see their child's teacher in action (at least in elementary) |
| Indigenous people day |
| Yes, I just saw that as well. |
| Yeah I think this is the way they are getting rid of the fall open house that teachers and administrators didn't like. |
Wrong. Schools are choosing their own open house dates. Our school gave staff a choice of 3 dates and will settle on one. |
| For years it's been Open House, but it'll never be a day off for Columbus Day. It's a PD day and teachers have to report in person. |
| Is reporting in person for PD days new or a school by school thing? I've never heard of them doing that before or after covid at our DCs school. |
It's ridiculous and insulting that they insist on micromanaging us so much. PD could easily be done from home via Zoom, but they trust teachers with children all day, just not left to their own devices working from home. |
| What kind of PD will it even be? MCPS has cut funds for most content area PD. I’m not sure coercing any of the PD to be useful |
| The morning session, created by central office, is all about antiracism and white supremacy culture. Afternoon PD is created by individual schools. |
Oh please. What a crock. |
I know! I was hoping I could sleep in and maybe go to a yoga class but they are making me come in. |
LOVE IT! Columbus was so horrible it's fitting! |
