Has anyone else had items stolen from lockers at Reston Lifetime? This has now happened to my husband twice in the past three months. The Manager claims this is not common, but it seems if it happened to him twice, it has to be fairly common. (FYI...he now brings his bag with him to his classes, but had to lock items in the locker when he went into the steam room for twenty minutes. The theft happened within those twenty minutes.)

Stealing from locked lockers? |
Yes, locked lockers |
Are they using bolt cutters to cut the locks? |
No, lockers are locked with combinations - you set a combination and it locks (like a hotel safe). He is careful to always spin the numbers back to all zeroes so nobody can see what code he set. |
Also, we have the window of when this has happened narrowed down to one hour (the first time it happened when he was in a class) and the second time (to 20 minutes when he was in the steam room), but management says they don't think they will learn anything by reviewing video footage from outside the locker room to see who entered/left during those time periods. Also, everyone who enters the club has to scan their membership QR code, so people who are not members/employees could not easily enter the building. |
Been happening for years. Seriously. I joined that gym when it first opened and the thefts started almost immediately, but it was only unlocked lockers (they weren’t bold enough to cut locks); has that changed? |
I’ve been going there 10 years. Husband too. Never happened. |
I'd be more concerned about husband spending 20 min. in the steam room. |
We go to the Centreville gym and they had a theft ring of employees a few years ago who somehow could get into the locked lockers. |
Makes you wonder if it is staff with access to the self set combinations. |
Probably a staff member. They can unlock any locker. What are they taking? He should just bring his car key in and keep it on him. Lifetime should be doing more to investigate. |
They had the same problem in the Ashburn/ Sterling lifetime. A lot of people kept wallets/purses in their cars and they had some break ins in cars. I never had anything stolen in 10 years of being a member. |
Probably someone who made a copy of the key that can open these types of lockers. |
Today I went to the Lifetime in Miami Florida “Falls” location. It was my first visit and I was not working out I was taking a tour of the gym. Upon arrival I was guided by the employee to to a locker and instructed by her to put my purse inside there and set a code and lock it. Which I did, and I even confirmed it was locked by pulling on the handle and spinning the code. I went on a 10 minute tour only because I was in a rush to see the solar eclipse today so I asked the girl to take me back to the locker quick, upon arrival to the locker, I noticed my code was imputed and when I pulled on the door handle it wasn’t locked. My purse had been opened but strangely nothing was stolen. I’m a little bit concerned because all of my credit cards, my drivers license and my house keys were in there along with my cell phone and a brand new pair of Versace glasses. |
