GOOD NEWS! (seriously)!!
Turns out that normal chlorination of pools makes them COVID 19 free! So, if schools close, the kids and teachers can take turns having class at the local rec centers! And summer looks better at the pool! Stay chlorinated! https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/guidance/environmentalhealthguidance/Advice%20note%20to%20EHS%20on%20Coronavirus%20and%20Drinking%20%20Water%20and%20Swimming%20Pools_V3.pdf |
The latter about mutation is not true. |
How do you get to the pool? Walk through the nasty locker room? |
Yes holding your breath. |
And then they share sowers and bathroom space.... |
Good. We have a couple of big meets coming up. |
Per Reuters..I kid you not.. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-usa-nyc/prepared-yet-vulnerable-a-battle-tested-new-york-confronts-coronavirus-idUSKBN20S2OX But even though New York City?s preparedness is evident, inevitable points of strain are also beginning to show. The mayor has said he needs the federal government to send hundreds of thousands more disposable protective masks for nurses and other health workers. Some hospitals are already relaxing safety protocols, urging workers to reuse single-use masks for an entire shift where possible. |
Wearing bathing suits under your clothes so you just have to remove clothes and rinse before jumping in the pool. Dry off before getting in the car and shower at home if you don?t want to change in the locker room. It?s great news that the chlorine kills the virus. |
The disease is spread via droplets such as a sneeze or cough. Of course chlorinated water makes the water virus free. It's been well known for a long time that chlorine kills bacteria and viruses. That's in THE WATER. If you congregate large numbers of kids together, they're going to get it from the AIR. |
Days ago I said we have several masks that we would donate to hospitals if they want them. They're the N95 masks too. Someone said that the hospital wouldn't want them since they aren't sterile. Well that's fine, I can keep them but they've never been used and would certainly be better than reusing masks for a 12hr (24hr?) shift. |
I said something to that effect. Now I say it doesn?t hurt to call and see if they want them. |
|
Hospitals could EO sterilize masks if they need to.
Some have gamma ray sterilization machines too. |
so, just keep doing what I already do. good. as Thornton Melon said in "Back to School", wearing his bathrobe across campus... "I don't change in front of other guys...." |
Damn, I'm getting really tired of the DCUM misinformation. 1. There is NO CLEAR EVIDENCE that the "virus has mutated" and that there is a worse strain. All viruses mutate, that's normal. The paper that made this claim is being widely criticized and warned against "over-interpreting." Some have even called for the paper to be retracted. https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-03-05/chinese-scientists-say-second-coronavirus-strain-more-dangerous 2. It is ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE for a young person to have a severe reaction to the coronavirus. In particular, health care workers exposed to a high dose of the virus might have a stronger immune reaction and a severe case. It's not an "unknown, underlying condition." This is a false belief that people have to make themselves feel better. |
