Mayor declares youth crime isn’t a police problem, it’s a PARENTING problem

What took so long for him to figure it out?
OMG, New Yorkers picked a real winner!

Well, crime isn't a problem statistically speaking. But Adams is a problem. No clue how he won anyone's vote.

I don’t really understand what people’s problem with Adam’s is.

Chicago’s major spouts the same crap too.

He’s right!

Preventing it is a parenting problem. Stopping it is a police problem.

He's a black, Democrat, cop. Those fandoms don't overlap much.

Since OP can't be bothered to provide a source or make a coherent comment:

Police aren't omnipotent, and are also highly criminal.

It's a problem with social fabric, private and government.

What exactly do you like about Adams?

The problem is that he's not entirely wrong, but coming from a former cop, and a black man, and not acknowledging any of the other factors involved, just makes it useless.

Yes, poor parenting results in a ton of bad outcomes, including youth crime. But what causes poor parenting, Adams? How about: stress, poor mental health, poverty, systemic unfairness (usually via systemic racism), substance abuse issues, high incarceration rates, poor schools, etc. I wonder if THE MAYOR could do anything about any of those issues, hmmm?

I'm a good parent who was raised by bad parents and has siblings who engaged in criminal behavior and the idea that it's a simple as "parent better" is such a cop out.

Sorry that was your situation. Glad you became a different way to parent.
I do think there is truth to the idea that parenting is lacking.
