I am a Chinese living here in DC, been following coronavirus since the end of December (before China admitted there was such thing):

1. Last time I was able to but a few n95 masks was the end of January, I haven't tried since
2. N95 and surgical masks definitely work, look at China, Japan, S Korea, people there aren't wearing masks daily for fashion reasons, it's uncomfortable to wear them, yet people do.
3. 3M's factories in China are producing lots of masks, however, China is blocking 3M from shipping them to the US (another reason we should end all trade with China, period)
4. In addition to mask, currently we are short of hazard suits for health care workers too, if you watch TV, you can see what suits the Chinese, Japanese, S Koreans are wearing (the nice ones), and what the American are wearing (the useless ones). What a shame. We must protect health care workers!

Six prisoners have died in a Modena prison after riots broke out in several Italian jails following the suspension of visits to curb the spread of the coronavirus, according to authorities.

Prisoners broke into the infirmary, and two of the dead were methadone overdoses.

Yes this is what is happening with 3M. They can?t get them to US citizens so now government telling us they don?t work. Lies and Failure.

My Chinese SIL scoffs each time she hears a doctor or someone parroting that masks don't work.

She's more worried about being here in the U.S. during this outbreak than she was for her family members back in China. She's been posting on social media since mid-January that when it got to the U.S., we'd be screwed because we were so unprepared. And now here we are.

I'm not getting hoax vibes. Gilead Sciences has been in communication with the poster via DMs. It's 100% possible that there's an unknown, underlying condition that made him go from healthy 30-something to this bad. However, the virus has also mutated and there is one strain that is much worse than the other.

If you've followed closely you'd know that most of them became infected due to not enough of the correct prevention supplies at the onset of the outbreak. Also, understaffed and overwhelmed medical centers contributed. Doctors were literally working around the clock, running themselves down, and very stressed out, all which compromises your immune system.

I'm not getting hoax vibes. Gilead Sciences has been in communication with the poster via DMs. It's 100% possible that there's an unknown, underlying condition that made him go from healthy 30-something to this bad. However, the virus has also mutated and there is one strain that is much worse than the other.

Also, some people in their 30's have died and some will die in the future from the virus. They don't all 100% have underlying health conditions. That just makes it more lethal. Some people are just going to be unlucky.

Yes this is what is happening with 3M. They can?t get them to US citizens so now government telling us they don?t work. Lies and Failure.

Of course they are going to tell us they don't work. There is a shortage and doctors and nurses can't even get them. We need to conserve for them.

This is why masks don't work. Because people are human. All people, Chinese and American and everyone.

The masks can help save lives. People in their 70?s still need to go to doctor appointments. People still need to go to grocery store. Having a mask vs not having one is a giant gamble. The US should have taken action 3 months ago. Masks were cleared out of warehouses at Walgreens back at the beginning of January. Our government knew 3 months ago there was going to be no masks available so they started telling us daily they did not work at all. No masks for the citizen of our country. The CDC is a failure and everyone ?in charge?. Perhaps they decided this was a good way to save on social security if older people died. There are millions of at risk people in this country that need masks. Their younger family members need masks to prevent spreading it to them. Should we not see grandma for six months?
