Car for young adult

I am buying my new college grad a car. Should I buy it and insure it as if it was mine (a second car on the insurance policy, which lists him as a driver), or should he buy it (with my money)?
Trying to understand the ramifications of those options (in terms of registering the car and insuring it). He will move to a nearby state soon, for grad school—taking the car with him. Thanks! |

| Those are separate issues. We bought DS a car and it was registered and exclusively titled under his name. For liability reasons, he got his own insurance policy after shopping around for a good rate with a reputable company. |
