| My son will be a U15 next year, and doesn't want to do travel soccer any more. He says he thinks he wants to do a school sport (not soccer) in the spring, and suburban friendship league in the fall. Can anyone whose child formerly played travel speak to whether SFL is fun and worthwhile? Obviously we are not going to force him to do travel soccer if he doesn't want to, just trying to help determine if SFL is a good option or he should put his time towards earning some money as a linesman or referee instead. |

SFL is fun and competitive. My son played travel for a couple season before joining an SFL team. You’ll find a lot of former travel players on these teams, and competition level is better than you think. Less fees, less stress and less travel.
Our high school team has a mix of travel and SFL players, and their ability levels are comparable. |
Thank you! Unfortunately my son is currently in a walking boot due to a non-soccer-related injury, but he will try SFL this spring. |
| Is this a MD league? |
I know that there is a SFL in NoVA. DS plays in it. There are a couple of levels that are seeded based on placement in the last seasons leagues. One is supposed to be more competitive then the other. |

Its rec teams from northern VA and SOTH. No Maryland teams.
It is a very fun league. Also, the SFL team tournament Alexandria hosts at the end of the season is a lot of fun. |
