| Judging from the slow uptake on high school college decision Instagram accounts, it seems like a lot of kids don’t want to say where they’re going next year. TJ, in particular, is a no-show. A lot of publics and privates have one-third to half or more seniors reporting. TJ is 5 percen. Something busted this year. |
| Some kids haven't decided yet, my DS is one of them. |
| That’s a lot of conclusions based on a lack of evidence. But do carry on. |
| I’ve had the same thought as OP, but there are a lot of confounding factors. Mostly I think these accounts are a fad that’s past its peak (like Instagram itself, really). |
|
That's on the parents who are clearly disappointed with their kids.
I'm floored by the parents on here who are all bummed that their kid has to attend Case or William & Mary or Northeastern or Tulane or some other school "ranked 40+." They may think that they're keeping it to themselves but I'm 100% sure it comes out to their kid(s). |
I agree. The fad is dying. |
Oh, so you can read minds and interpret feelings based on Instagram accounts - you are reaching. You don’t know these young adults…🙄 |
| My DD and her friends have all decided and are all happy with their choices (range from highly selective privates, selective in-state public, mid-range privates) but didn't share on the school's Instagram decisions. They just don't care to do that. |
That's the sense I get, too...the fad has kind of died. Most of the seniors I know don't want to participate in the instagram thing but are happy with their choices. |
Those Instagram accounts started in 2020 when kids weren’t seeing their classmates & schools weren’t having ceremonies in-person for the most part. I assumed they wouldn’t continue yearly after that. |
| PP here. That year schools/parents did yard signs that said “class of 2020 XYZ high school.” I continued to see those for the following 1-2 years but haven’t seen any this year. |

The happiest kids seem to be those out west, in the mountain states or down south going to pac12, sec schools, big 10
Jointing Greek life or doing outdoors ax |
It's too early. Our HS distributes them a couple weeks before graduation (which is in mid June) |
| It is also possible that there is now a TikTok version of this that parents are not aware of |
There are also kids that are just not that into social media. At all. |
