Tips for my first long flight

Anonymous
Flying 10 hours followed by a 2 hour layover, then 5 more hours. Furthest I’ve flown is 5 hours to California. I am also flying without DH, who is my comfort during flights. Any tips / advice for me?

This is so lame. You're an adult. Can't you just ... deal? Figure it out.

Get some good snacks, good headphones (i have noise canceling blue tooth and also some cheap ones to plug in to their entertainment system), download some books and movies, and wear comfy clothes. If I'm flying solo on long flights, I prefer aisle seats so I can easily get uoyto bathroom or stretch without worrying about disrupting someome else.

OP here. It is coach. Turkish Airlines.

Sure I can just deal. It’s just a conversation piece. Geez.

Bring a good book to read, as well as any tablet/device to watch movies. Also, some kind of sleep aid to help adapt to the time zone changes.

Is it the 11 pm flight? Have dinner at the airport, skip the airline meal and just go to sleep when you get to your seat. Get small pillow to hold your neck when sleeping.

P.s. they serve very nice sour cherry juice and ayran on board. Try both.

No, 5pm. I am wondering how I’ll actually sleep!

I always choose an aisle seat. I bring my own wrap and a small pillow. Wear comfortable clothes, socks and shoes. I also make sure to load my Kindle with plenty of books. During the flight I try to walk a bit when there’s no food service. I also help myself to water and juice from the galley to stay hydrated, so the aisle seat helps with having to go to the bathroom.

Get a book then & watch a couple of movies. It’s a long flight so you’ll eventually fall asleep. Also, change your watches when you reach the aircraft, this way, you’re already on new time.

A good eye mask! There are kinds that sit above your eyes (molded like a bra)

Also if you do want to sleep, a window seat is much better. You can lean against the window and also don't have to wake up if your aisle mates need to go to the bathroom
