GFR Falling apart?

Anonymous
All you GFR parents hoping that this club is viable in 2026, I suggest you start looking for options for your kid now for spring tryouts. The earlier you start scoping out other teams that work for you geographically & competively, the better. And mock this post all you want, GFR strap hangers. It’s all coming apart. Just come back to this post in January and you will recall you were warned.

Does this apply to recreational programs as well? I know this board is mostly travel parents but we have been very happy with the rec program for our younger kids and our oldest plays travel elsewhere due to the pathways they offer but hate to have this rec program fall apart since we live right by Baron Camron.

Does it apply at all to anyone? Don’t trust all you see on this board. One disgruntled person can make a lot of unverifiable posts.

So winter is coming posters, is it your thought the announcement will be made in Dec or Jan? Assuming your thought is letting GfR get through last fall tournaments/state and then pulling trigger? Or when is your timing?

The night is dark and full of terrors.

In at least one sense the winter-is-coming poster(s) (not sure that it’s more than one person) are right. It’s gotten pretty chilly at practice, and I expect we will see some colder weather and maybe even some snow. Meteorologically speaking.

And while I value development over wins and losses, most of the teams are at least mid table in their respective league/division, with several near the top. Can’t speak to the boys side, maybe that’s where the disgruntlement comes in. It is where the former coaches and board putsch folks came from.

Same here. We know many parents/kids on the 2015/2016/2017 girls side (and some on the boys side) and most everyone is happy with GFR.

with GFR as a club or happy with their coaches so stay?

Can’t speak for others but we’re very happy with our coach, generally happy with the club.

The only issue we’ve had with the club over 6+ years was the chaos caused by the attempted board putsch last spring, but luckily I think the folks responsible for that are largely gone and the club has stabilized. Our DD has really developed in both technical skill & soccer IQ, not to mention confidence.

Maybe I’ll see a White Walker soon, though?

Why aren’t parents being more vocal then? A team parent attended their board meetings recently and said there’s only like 6 people there so that’s not really showing a voice of dissent? What do parents want? I’m just confused. We are very happy but largely in the dark, it seems, about what goes on at the executive level.

Happy with the coaches, happy with the club, and happy with teammates.

So when both the ED & TD are ethically challenged, a healthy number of parents & coaches are disgruntled, rumors are swirling about a collapse, and current GFR coaches are advocating for players to attend a futsal academy outside GFR this winter, the writing is on the wall, folks. It’s coming apart, at least on the travel side.

Except there is no evidence that the ED or TD are ethically challenged, just insinuations never backed up by evidence from what seems to be a small cadre of disgruntled people who only cast aspersions and never back them up with factual claims or evidence, and there’s no reason to think a “healthy” number of parents or current coaches are disgruntled based on reports from people who actually know a fair number of parents, and the “rumors swirling” are just the same unsubstantiated insinuations the same person/people are pushing to try to create a market panic. Apparently some people just can’t let go and move on after participating in a failed coup. But I guess we already know that from current American politics.

Just saying winter is coming over and over doesn’t make it so. This doesn’t work like with Tinkerbell.

You know what is never in those posts? Actual facts or verifiable allegations. I expect that won’t change.

That you NM or RS? It’s coming apart. Watch & see.
