1 month summer vacation in central or South America—where would you go?

Anonymous
We are going to take a 4.5 week trip to central or South America late june-mid July. Here’s what we want:

—we can travel to a few different spots but my partner will be working so we need WiFi and some stability (i.e. we are thinking 1-4 locations for the whole time).

—we want some fun activities for our daughter. If we stay in one spot, we would like to enroll her in a Spanish immersion camp. She loves art, horses and gymnastics over sports camps. She is fluent in Spanish and an experienced traveler—we lived abroad for a year.

—we want relatively decent weather (e.g. if July is the absolute worst time to visit a particular county we won’t go there).

—budget is pretty flexible.

—Spanish speaking country

Where would you go? Specific towns and links are especially appreciated, as is advice from those who have been to the location. Thank you!

Colombia - Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena (there are camps, but you will need to research parent groups).

Though I have heard of more camps in Guatemala - Antigua, El Tikal

Summer here means winter there so stay away from the tips of S. America. But, it is doable to go to Chile if you like cooler temperature.

Merida, Mexico

If Medellin, we’ve had great experience with Airbnb from an American super host with a dozen or so properties. I can dig up if interested.

Where have you already been in Central/South America OP? That will help with recommendations. And are you open to Spain?

I'm doing a month in South America this summer to visit friends and family. Mostly in Medellin, a week in Lima.

I wouldn’t go to either place.

You could stay in Argentina the entire time and stay 1-2 weeks in different locations. Argentina offers so many different things - Buenos Aires, mountains, waterfalls, wine country, etc. Once you narrow things down, DCUM can probably make better suggestions for specific things/places.

I’d be packing my skis and heading to Chile. I’m currently look at flights and hotels for summer for us ski trip.

I have Peruvian relatives with kids and I’ve never heard of them being in day camps like is typical here in the US with 2 working parents. I think it’s uncommon. Mostly the moms are SAH or have part time jobs and babysitters and it’s not as normal to need outside childcare during school breaks.

My circle isn’t big though l could be off.

You’re not allowed to work abroad OP.

We lived in Cordoba, Argentina for awhile and traveled around a ton. Only problem is it will be colder while you are there (high 60s on average). So if you're looking for more summer weather, you'd need to be closer to the equator.

How do you get 4.5 weeks out of late June to mid-July?

This is not uncommon post Covid. My company allows to work outside US for 4 weeks. One can combine vacation and work from abroad weeks and do 4-6 weeks abroad.
