Favorite family-friendly resorts that are cool in August?

| I went to Burlington in the summer once. Mosquitoes were brutal. The beaches in MD and DE are about 10 degrees cooler than DC in the summer. I'd rather be there and do VT in the spring or fall. Deep Creek is cooler too. |

Ocean House in RI is amazing Chatham bars inn or Wequasset on the Cape Cliff house in Maine Spruce peak resort in stowe if you don't need a beach We've never had a problem with bugs in new england |

| Maine and Vermont can often get into 90s in august. Don’t bank on cooler weather- at all. In fact, the last summer I was in Maine, there were several mid 90 days in June! |

Oh, stop being such a Debbie Downer! There are always cancellations and, if not, OP can plan for next year. I'll cast another vote here for the Tyler Place in Vermont. Our family went there for several summers, starting when our oldest was 4. Our last summer there he was 12 and our youngest was 6. We loved it and have many happy memories. We have friends who feel the same way about Medomak in Maine. |
