Having people over, what should I make?

Anonymous
Evergreen question! Maybe 10 people, adults and kids, a couple vegetarians but not other food restrictions. I'm not too worried about the kids because I'll get some party pizza and make a fruit salad.

What should I make? [I want to have something in addition to pizza, no chili, taco bar, baked potato bar.]

I'd make some kind of interesting hearty salad, with some vegetarian protein incorporated (nuts or something similar) and assume that most people will have it with pizza.

With today’s weather maybe a soup or stew? Homemade bread if that’s something you are comfortable making it.

BAKED ZITI!!! (I'm not that poster but I love it!)

This is what I want to eat today. Hearty vegetarian stew, homemade bread, Kerry gold butter, leafy salad, and brownies for dessert.

Enchiladas
Jambalaya (not easy to make veg though)
Salmon burgers with homemade creamy dill sauce

NP- thank you! I clicked on this just for the enchilada sauce part. Will definitely be making this in the future. Seems like a no fuss way to have an entree in advance, ready to go.

Grain salad - like a freekeh or farro but with a lot of greens and vegetables. Maybe some marcona almonds and those tiny mozzarella balls. Actually you could probably do that as a “bar’ to some extent, too, so people can customize. One grain, two greens, a few topping options, two dressings.

Thanks everyone! I settled on red lentil soup, farro salad, homemade bread, lemon bars, and box of pizza strips. I didn't do baked ziti because one of the families made lasagna last time I was at their place, so didn't want to copy and I love spinach pie but no one else seems that enthusiastic when I make it.
