My order at Wegman’s has 25% markup, it used to be 15% markup from in store price.
I noticed the higher price while placing the order, but thought it is just inflation, not Instacart extra markup. Can’t afford to order delivery anymore. |
| So go to the store yourself. You’re paying for a service |
| GO TO THE STORE OP or use a store that has FREE drive up pick up. |
| Are you posting from 2020? |
| So many DCUMers swear by Instacart but I haven’t had good experiences. Insanely inflated prices, shoppers failing to find in-stock items, bad produce picks… I wish this was a good outsourcing solution but it’s just not. |
Agree. The only time I ever use it is on vacation when we want it delivered. So many places have curbside and I find that so much more convenient. |
| Yeah prices are crazy. I just started using it in the last 6 months and deleted it yesterday. It was helpful and I had good experiences with shoppers, but the higher price for all items, plus inflation, is no go for me. |
| Am I the only person in America who has not used Instacart? You people are lazy. |
I think it depends on the store. They always get it right at Wegmans, Safeway was terrible (only used them once) |
I don’t have a car, have a bad shoulder, live on a third floor walkup, and am not lazy. I just can’t carry heavy things home and up the stairs. |
| It’s worth it on vacation. Never use it at home. |
If you have a bad shoulder, you maybe able to hire a nurse to help with daily living and have it covered by insurance. Walk to grocery store with a granny cart, have them load it for you, then walk it back, and have nurse scheduled to help. Or take a taxi. |
Ignore the nasty people, OP. I understand. |
A taxi won’t help me load and unload items, and certainly won’t carry them into my building let alone carry them up the stairs or stand in the lobby to make sure things aren’t stolen while I make six trips up and down the stairs. You use your shoulders when you pull a granny cart, and there’s still the issue of the stairs. And no, since I can work full time insurance will not pay for a nurse. |
Me too. Though I did use the Whole Foods delivery service a few times while it was still free. |
