ISI recommendations for a special place to take our daughter for dinner to celebrate her 13th birthday. I’m looking for something with great food and a fun/vestige vibe but it need not be fancy. We’re open to different types of cuisine. Her favorite is Zatinya, but we want to try something new. Thanks! |
That should say festive. Autocorrect… |
How about something like a Japanese steakhouse where the food prep at your table is quite a show? |
This restaurant does an “Around the World” menu that looks fun:

Toki Underground- ramen |
How about Fig and Olive at City Center? The restaurant is kind of chic and glamorous and city center itself is always decorated and pretty. |
Central? They do a flaming candle and my kids love the food. This is their fancy bday spot of choice. |
Sounds like she has more sophisticated taste but my 13yo would like somewhere instagrammable.
For fancy with a nice setting, I like the conservatory tables at Little Pearl. |
My kids always pick Franklins in Hyattsville for their birthday dinner. |
Central would definitely be my choice.
Other fun options: Oyamel, St Anselms, Convivial, Centrolina. |
Would she like fondue? |
I like the Roost in DC because everyone can order something different, which makes it fun. |
What about a Brazilian restaurant, or meat-on-a-stick, as my DS14 calls it. We went to Fogo de Chao recently, and DS loved it. |
If she likes Zaytinya, what about Ilili? The food is delicious, and the setting lovely too (The Wharf) |
My kids love fogo du chao, Tokyo Japanese steakhouse (or any teppanyaki), and le diplomate |
