I need recommendations for your favorite non-dairy everything to replace common dairy items, especially:
butter coffee creamer crackers - bonus if they are like goldfish! cheeses sour cream |
Research the different local dairy farms, in this area we have several that are excellent old-fashioned small farms that treat their cows like family. |
They have vegan cows? |
You cannot recreate these things without them tasting rancid or like cardboard. |
Are there any food allergies involved? Specifically tree, nuts, soy, oats, or coconut? |
I love the nut pods for creamer- especially if they are cashew milk. |
It depends what you are using these things for e.g. What are you using butter for? Baking? |
All cows are vegan. |
Not true. I'm not a vegan and Miyoko "butter" is amazing. I haven't tried to bake with it but it's great on toast. |

Earth balance is the best non butter butter replacement I’ve used
Cheese, well, you’ll have to figure out what you E is nothing that is an exact replacement. Goldfish, we’ll, it’s an old recipe, and while I’m no longer Vega, I love these, https://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan-recipe/vegan-goldfish-crackers/ Sadly, a lot of coffee creamers are completely fake everything anyway, so check out the brands that you usually use and you may be surprised. |
Earth balance non soy butter substitute for toast. For baking it is not that great—I often find vegan baked goods to taste too salty and I think it is the butter substitute.
Silk soy yogurt is best non dairy yogurt. Earth balance vegan cheddar squares for the goldfish equivalent Whole Foods has a lot of vegan foods, good selection, so I would start there |
I suggest you follow some good vegan food bloggers to see what they use. I'm not vegan, but I have been trying to use less dairy and like the following:
Vegan Richa The Korean Vegan Woon Heng |
As someone who was dairy free for 2.5 years, please add whether you are vegan or DF. And whether there are additional allergy considerations. Off the top of my head- Butter- Earth balance sticks for baking/cooking, Miyokos for spreads/toast/etc Coffee creamer- Califia Farms or Coffeemate Natural Bliss Creamer Sweete Creme (beware of carrageenan) Crackers- R.W. Garcia crackers 3seed tumeric crackers or Ritz (yes those are DF) Cheese- IMO don't bother but Siete Mild Nacho DF Cashew Queso is tolerable and Violife is palate-dependent. Chao original makes OK grilled cheese. Sour cream- IMO don't bother but you can add to items like chili - forager sour cream Cheese, yogurt, and sour cream were the most difficult to replace IME. And I wish I had just stopped trying stuff and saved money. |
The only vegan yogurt I like is Nancy's oat vanilla
Agree about earth balance I also like Kite Hill chive cream cheese & their raviolis/tortelliinis Dislike all vegan cheese Sticky Fingers bakery in Columbia Hts is amazing if you are local!! cowvins & salty choc chip cookies mmmm |
