Dryer Repair

Anonymous
Our 2yo Samsung dryer suddenly stopped drying - it runs but just no heat...any idea of what could be causing this? It has been a while since I had the dryer vent located on the roof cleaned. Can someone recommend a good repairman? We live in MoCo. Thank you!

Call Samsung. See if it is a warranty repair. They can get you in the queue and it may be covered.

I looked up Samsung warranty - it's only one year
Appliance Check located in Virginia said they can come tomorrow
Any experience with this company? It just came up first on Google when looking up next day dryer repair

It can be a bunch of things. Thermostat, burned out coil.

Dryer vent on the roof, make sure the screen is removed since it will clog and be a danger. But not heating is likely due to a sensor or temp monitor going bad (if gas, a flame or heat sensor). If electric, multiple things. Should be easy to diagnose and fix.

Clean out the vent. After that, you're probably better off paying for a new one since the repair is going to me easily half the cost of a new appliance

Probably the control panel. We hare having the same issue and the warranty is a nightmare.

+1. Our Samsung dryer did the same thing a few years ago. Ordered a new thermostat online ($50-ish), unplugged it, removed a few screws, unplugged the old thermostat, then switched it out and put everything back together. The whole process took maybe an hour.

If you can build ikea furniture, you can replace a dryer thermostat.

A few years after that, I did the control board. Have also replaced the start capacitor in our HVAC, and the pump in our dishwasher. Dishwasher was by far the hardest due to getting it pulled out of the cabinets and the plastic parts breaking easily.

Our dryer does this on a semi annual basis. I'm not sure why we always have this problem but my husband has become an expert on switching out the burned out heating coil and can do it 20 mins now.

Ours did this and it was the thermostat. We fixed it ourselves following a youtube video.
