End of year gift?

Our oldest is finishing K this week in MCPS and we are completely in the dark regarding end of the year gifts. What kind of gift is appropriate? If we get her a gift card, what amount is reasonable?

$50 from a single family is not expected.

I have always given $25 and that seems to be on the high side.

There are many families with several children (and, after K, one or more teacher per grade) and this could easily add up to several hundred dollars.

What kind of gift card? No idea what she likes.

It was my understanding that MCPS had a policy on teacher gifts: no more than $25 at one time, and no more than $100 per family per teacher per year. It's a little late now but next year you may want to see if people want to get together and give one group gift or contribute cash for one gift card.
