La Cote D'Or Cafe in Arlington -- not super fancy, which I think is what people expect out of a French restaurant. Sweet, homey interior. Reliably good food with nice servers.

Port-Au-Prince in Silver Spring. Great Caribbean food and drinks.

Taberna Del Alabardero in DC--great service for tapas

O-Ku -- really good sushi and nice interior in NE

Fat City Kitchen in West End Alexandria, their duck is my favorite
And I know it’s a chain but our food is always good at Silver Diner. I had never been to one until a few years ago and thought it was like a Denny’s and their food is much better than Denny’s. My kids are always happy eating there and I don’t mind it LOL.

Rincome Thai Cuisine. It’s at a Days Inn on Columbia Pike in Arlington (yes, really), so there’s nothing fancy about this place. But it’s so, so good.

Silver Diner is great. Nothing like Denny’s.
