Taking car to school for just a few months

| Our college senior hasn't had a car at school and will be taking one of our cars to her campus in NY state to commute to her student teaching during the last semester. Does she need to reregister the car in NY for just a little over 4 months of school? She'll be coming back here afterwards. |

| Call your insurance company and check the laws in the state and county where the school is located. |

| No need to register for a few months. Drive around any college campus—lots of OOS license plates. |

| I went to school in upstate NY and kept my home state plates because school was not my permanent home and I also didn’t vote there. |
