Yes, I am thinking about something that doesn't matter. I know the scores are supposed to be released in December, but does anybody know when in December they have come out in past years? I assumed that they would be released before the winter break but maybe I'm wrong. |
Once you forget that your child took the test. It's ridiculous. |
OP, I've been checking parentvue every day bc we were told the same thing--December. Nothing yet. |
I'm a teacher and we don't have the scores internally so it's not like they are being intentionally withheld from you. |
I received my 3rd graders this week (ACPS). |
Out of curiosity, if you are a classroom teacher do you do anything with the scores? Or do you just look at them and say that sounds about right? |
Ha, that's good to know but if you were I wouldn't hold it against you since I'd assume you had a reason for doing so. I just think it's taking a long, long time. ![]() |
They are in parentvue now (at least, my kid’s were). |
My kids scores are also there. |
So what do we do with the scores? Are there cutoffs for gifted in APS? Does APS even have gifted anymore? |
Yes they use it to determine entrance tpm gifted program. Yes there is still a gifted program. Varies by school. My kids does a lot for English. |
Is extra support provided for those who have deficits- not sure what would help nonverbal reasoning issues in upper elementary school? |
I don't know the details, but a friend of mine did get support for her child who had deficits. It's definitely worth asking. |
+1 I don't know the cutoffs, but a good number of kids are in some portion of the gifted program. In our school the gifted program kind of sucks but it's better than nothing. DD was identified for gifted by a teacher, but I had to do a parent recommendation for DS. There should be a coordinator at your school you can reach out to; ours is listed as the gifted coordinator on the directory. I believe being in the gifted program, even if it doesn't help much in elementary, tags kids for more advanced cohorts in middle school. So if your kid qualifies you probably want them to get in even if their elementary experience isn't that different. |
It also factors into decisions for who takes pre algebra in 6th |
