A bunch of Emory University labor and delivery nurses made a TikTok in which they talked about their patient icks. Video went viral and they got fired. Honestly though, I didn’t think the video was that bad. I was expecting something way worse. They didn’t name names or show patients or anything. It is icky to have two baby mamas laboring on the same hall! It is icky to ask for a paternity test a minute after the baby is born!

And yes, the firing was absolutely warranted. |
| I think it was bad, but I don’t think they should’ve been fired either. I think they should’ve been reprimanded, maybe given some sort of training. And the only lesson learned is not to post stuff like that on social media. The lesson I’d like nurses to learn is to be more kind and compassionate. Plus, I think the only reason these are “Icks” is because nurses are burned out and hospitals are short staffed. Hospitals need to fix that instead of just sending the message that nurses should keep their complaints offline. (Although that is true, people who serve—nurses, police officers, teachers, etc—shouldn’t complain about the people they serve on TikTok). |

Seems like a potential HIPPA nightmare, too, if they share that many details no matter how they try to mask patients’ identities
Just RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL |

Having just been in the hospital and experiencing a wide range of nurse behaviors, this is wildly unprofessional. Nurses need to be trusted to do their (hard and often thankless!) jobs without commenting on people’s bodies or personal choices.
The public aspect on Tik Tok is bad, too. I am glad the hospital did not tolerate it. |
I'd say it's the opposite - the only lesson they need to know is to not post this on social media. They can have opinions and snark about patients among themselves, but not in public on TikTok. That's a no. |
