I have been sick with what was probably food poisoning for the last four days. I'm mostly recovered but still need to be really gentle with the food I eat.
However, I am also in charge of figuring out dinner for my family tonight. I want something insanely easy that requires virtually no prep but will be easy on my stomach. No pasta, no raw veggies, probably minimal meat (but I do need protein), dairy is okay but not in excess. We've also kind of exhausted our ramen and soup options the last few days so something else would be good. Maybe something I could have with a hunk of bread and butter. I want like stupid easy, so if you have a frozen dinner recommendation, please share. We did take out last night and I order the mildest thing on the menu and it was still too much for me so I would prefer not to order in. |

BRAT diet and some egg whites or bone broth for protein
egg whites on plain toast Applesauce on side |

Just bake some chicken breasts on a baking sheet with some veggies and or some potatoes.Sheet pan 40 minutes. One pan
or leave out the potatoes and serve with microwaved brown rice. |
| 4 day food poisoning seems unlikely. You probably had a virus. |

Bob Evans frozen mashed potatoes are really good.
Maybe that and a rotisserie chicken? |
| breakfast for dinner. French toast, eggs, pancakes, anything! |

My go-tos are scrambled eggs or chicken soup.
If you have to feed the whole family, you might order Chinese. Would egg drop soup be too rich? You could skip the fried wontons and have it with plain rice. You might need to eat in anotger room if the food smells are too strong. When my stomach is upset, what I find most helpful are probiotics (yogurt, yogurt smoothies, kefir) or even OTC probiotic pills, to help restabilize my system. |

Thanks all, this was helpful. Soup from a Chinese place sounds amazing, we're doing that. Food smells are not bothering me at this point, my stomach is still just insanely sensitive and my DH is getting home late tonight and can't handle dinner for him and DC on his own. So Chinese takeout it is.
Also thank you for the probiotic suggestion. I've never taken them but I've also never been taken out quite like this before by food poisoning or a stomach bug. Usually recover much more quickly. |
| Scrambled eggs and toast with jam. Fruit for the others - none for you. |
| Is congee too soup-like? That's my go-to when I feel crummy. |
| Are you really the right person to be handling food after a GI virus? |
