Anyone use Cabinet Paint by Design?

Anonymous
I really want to paint our kitchen cabinets. I think they are about 10 years old (we just brought the house) and style-wise they are fine, but the color really bothers me. The color definitely looks factory made vice that the previous owners painted them. I’ve seen some really shoddy cabinet painting, basically no prep and peeling immediately, and I really want to avoid that. I found a Fairfax company online called cabinet paint by design that claims to specialize in this. Anyone used them or heard any reviews?

Or Mr. Faux out of Sterling?

Came to search this too. Anyone use them?

I think it depends on what the existing finish is made of

I am in the process of using them.

They are very professional and trustworthy.
That said, I haven't seen the final cabinet finish yet, but I have no reason to doubt it will be well done.

I’ve used them!! They’re fantastic. I used them about six months ago and have had no chipping issues so far. They’re really committed to doing a great job - they fixed soft close for us, leveled out cabinets, etc such that our cabinets look nicer than years ago. The only thing to note is the paint really smells when they do it - I wasn’t prepared for that- so consider staying elsewhere especially because you can’t really keep windows open in this heat.

Did they do it directly at your house? They did not take the doors with them elsewhere and brought them when they were cured? cabinet paint needs about 30 days to cure so that would be generally the preferred process.

They take the doors away and bring them back.

They took the doors away to spray at their shop, but the frames are done at the house.

I was hoping to use this company, but they ghosted me when we were corresponding about an estimate. Pretty disappointing.

I’m pretty sure I’m the OP of this thread. I ended up going with kitchen update out of Maryland and they were absolutely amazing. I had communication issues with Cabinet Paint By Design and they was the decider. The estimates between the two were not very different. Kitchen update was extremely impressive. The backsplash work looks amazing and the cabinets are beautiful and they were very easy to work with.
