Gymboree Clothes Size

Anonymous
I want to order some clothes online from Gymboree-never bought Gymboree clothes for DC before. Do their sizes run big or small. For example, DD is 18 months old but for Carter clothes, wears 12 months and for Old Navy, she wears 24 months size

I think they run big.

shirts definitely run big.

What's the difference between 24 months and 2T size?

Gymboree runs really big. My daughter is thin and has never been able to fit into their pants. She can wear their shorts, but generally needs a size smaller than normal. Same goes for shirts.

I always buy a bigger size in Gymboree. My son is wearing a 5T or size 4 in big boys clothing but I buy a size 6 on Gymboree shirts. I think they size their clothing small.

My 23 mo DD is tiny for her age (5th percentile weight). We just bought her some 18-24 mo shirts that are a little big on her now but will be fine after they shrink in the wash. We usually size down on Gymboree pants/shorts because DD's waist is so tiny, so she's now wearing the 12-18 month size in Gymboree pants. Bottom line: If your 18 mo DD is about average for her age on the weight charts, you should probably go with the 18-24 month sizes for summer.

I think you can go with their height/weight charts (and not age). DS was wearing the 12-18 month size by 9 months. At that age he was wearing 18 month-2T in Carters for comparison. Gymboree runs generous and definitely not small.

Another vote for Gymboree running generous on the sizing. DS is currently wearing 12-18 month size bottoms from Gap and 6-12 month size from Gymboree. The Gymboree pants fit more generously than do the Gap ones.

They run really big for my DS. At 23 months, he still fits in the 12-18 month size pants. And, the 18-24 shirts sometimes work, but still run large.

FWIW, DS is in the 5% height/weight curve.

I think they run slightly big because they tend to fit my (enormous) daughter better than other brands.

FYI - if you have an oversized toddler (height and weight but not necessarily long legs) I've found that Osh Kosh B'Gosh makes overalls that actually fit. Overalls are unforgiving - if the waist is big enough, sometimes the legs are too long - but Osh Kosh seems to fit big-around-the-middle kids.

My daughter fits about the same in 24 mos and 2T, so I think they're the same size.

Well, if you're in the 5th %ile you can't really complain that they don't fit by the age, you have to look at the height/weight.

Gymboree clothes run big.

I think 2T clothes are a little roomier than 24 months. My only evidence for this is that I have some Carter's 24 month footed PJs that are a little tight around my very big 18 month old's thighs and butt, but the 2T Carter's footed pajamas fit him well.
