Dress Code for LCPS Teachers?

Anonymous
Saw that it is an agenda item for the upcoming school board meeting. We are losing teachers left and right and this is what they worry about? Have you observed any inappropriate dress?

OMG. Are they kidding with this? That's insane. No wonder teachers are leaving in droves if this is the type of stuff the SB is worried about.

Have you thought about maybe it's loosening some of the current codes?

Teachers have a pretty laid-back dress code already.

I read the new proposed policy as an educator and it seems fine. Really just no torn clothing, weapons, etc. They continue to include jeans in “business causal” so I have no qualms. I wonder if they are going after female educators who have been wearing tights / leggings to work. I know this is a controversial one, but I’ve never felt they look remotely professional (but the HS guys surely love them)

Bring out the leggings!

No one should be allowed to wear leggings to work unless they work at a gym or warehouse.

Depends on how old is the teacher.

Do you have a lot of this at your school? I saw it years ago when LuLaRoe MLMs were all over and one staff member kept having parties. They were not young teachers wearing these. They were mostly older, out of shape women wearing loud prints. I say this as an older overweight woman who would never wear leggings to work.

What's wrong with tights? Don't most people wear tights under skirts and dresses in the winter?

Or do you mean wearing tights as pants?

It should be business causal or at most Jeans and a nice top/blouse/polo. No leggings or sweats (except school clothing).

Yes, tights as pants. Looks amazing when the teachers right out of college do it (which is obviously horrendous for male attention, haha), but it seems that older, overweight woman often jump on the bandwagon too. I am wondering if this new dress policy is targeting them implicitly but not condoning them in the “approved dress” list. Would be hard to argue that only tights are business casual…

Something tells me you've never worked in Elementary, especially lower Elem.

Google the Ontario Oakville Trafalgar High School, showing shop teacher Kayla Lemieux, to get an idea of why dress codes might need some updating.

I thought that was a hoax.
