Letter from VHSL

Knew them rednex down there were going to uphold.
It’s going to be Oscar Smith now.

Idk. Battlefield is strong and could be the last team standing. I actually think Battlefield had a better chance of winning it all than Hayfield.

As a fan, I was looking forward to seeing Hayfield, Battlefield, and Madison clash with the best Richmond, and Tidewater teams. It’s a shame that the haters had to get involved.

A lot of non Hayfield people were looking forward to those matchups. I do believe it all would've remained under the radar if the team moms hadn’t stated fighting. If the one team mom had given up her position quietly and accepted the new team culture, we would be none the wiser.

But now her kid gets playing time in the postseason for SoCo. So I guess she’s having the last laugh as they say.

On the note of team moms, what happened to the tens of thousands of dollars collected by the new team mom, using an outside money platform outside the organized booster structure sanctioned by FCPS?

She is going to receive a 1099 for that money and have to pay taxes on it.

This story did just disappear! I'm curious too.

The other story that came up in summer but then died was that reporters could not find financials for coach’s non-profit training company. All other non-profits you can pull prior year records from IRS site. Nothing comes up for their non-profit, but is called a non-profit. Reporters said they tried to find but couldn’t.

Bunch of the deeply involved parents have their sons already committed to colleges so they are good for this to be a one-time event bc their kids already got benefit. To have a state championship team only able to mount 6 games this year is crazy. He blew up 2 schools for benefit of adult egos and small group of his hand-picked recruits.

Idk but Ried said it was only 15.

The kids at Freedom are still playing and having fun. Some kids probably are getting to play that may not have if the transfers had stayed so Freedom is good.

Wow Reid really screwed this up spectacularly. How did VHSL find 9 more transfers when FCPS spent "400 hours" and half a mil investigating?

They are having fun? Says who? They have no JV or freshman team, their schedule was cut in half to only 6 games and they have lost every game so badly the clock has run every game (which further cuts game
Play time).

I am sure whatever she said was carefully worded by her attorney.

+1. They are not having fun. Stop trying to downplay the effects of the overton scandal.

Good question. Someone should ask her at one of her community events.

After the article ran, the company did a corrective filing so the company is active again, but the financials still not accessible. Maybe it was changed from non-profit status.

So you want us to believe he got fired from Freedom as football coach, got a job as football coach and head of security at Hayfield right away, but was able to keep his job as girls basketball coach at Freedom?
