Umbrella stroller for bigger kid (4-5 yo)

Anonymous
Any recommendations for a light, folding umbrella type stroller that will comfortably hold a 4+ year old? Not looking for something deluxe/expensive, but many of the cheap ones look too flimsy for this age.

I always thought MacLaren strollers were the best , even for older kids.

Are you looking for one for a specific purpose (like a trip)?

Ditching the heavy duty stroller and keeping a lightweight one around for travel, long walks, etc. - Occasional use, don’t need to pay extra for fancy features

If I was going to Disney world or some other place w/ a lot of walking and wanted a stroller for my 5 year old, I'd get one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Infant-Lite-Convenience-Stroller/dp/B00O20OCVC/ref=as_li_ss_il?crid=175A56Y0NQ41H&keywords=summer+infant+3d+lite+convenience+stroller&qid=1579402424&s=baby-products&sprefix=summer+infant+,baby-products,165&sr=1-2&linkCode=li2&tag=simpol20160c-20&linkId=35f092c3adca15f535732725d864f049&language=en_US.

It does say up to 50 lbs so it depends how big your kid is. My 5 year old is about 40 lbs but she's tall for her age so she would technically fit but probably not super comfortable for tall kids.

Might be better to get one like a citymini instead of an umbrella stroller if you're looking for something a little more comfortable.

You might check out the Bugaboo Butterfly. It's new and kind of like the Babyzen YoYo but rated up to a higher weight (50lb) and might be more comfortable for an older kid. It's not an umbrella stroller but a compact trifold, which I personally prefer for travel. It also has way more storage than most umbrella strollers.

If the Butterfly or Yoyo are too spendy for a stroller you'll only use occasionally, maybe look at the Colugo Compact? Or try to find one of these used.

Loved my Maclaren Quest for this. After we quit using it (and we used it A LOT!!) it went on to a new family, still going strong.
