Best Indian Food in Bethesda?

Anonymous
That's it really. I've seen a few places tucked away while walking around, that I didn't know existed, or are new and wondered if anyone had an opinion on the best Indian cuisine in Bethesda? I love Indian food. I could just try them all but that would be greedy.

Bethesda is not really the place for Indian food. Need to go to DC or NoVA for that

Well that's probably true, but I live in Bethesda, I am going blind so I'm not driving much but I've seen these places and I'd like a heads up. Have you eaten at any of them? Can you recommend one?

I like Passage to India. I know it’s not new, but they have menu items from different parts, not just the same old northern Indian cuisine or Southern cuisine.

Viraaj on Cordell, or Maya on Wisconsin. If you want to branch out to Nepali, then Momo on Bethesda Ave.

They are all a cut above. I found Curry Kitchen average (but they do have a good lunch buffet if you are dining in) and Passage to India a bit dated.

+1. We are friends with the owner, and the food really is good, so this is my recommendation. I have also heard Kadhai is good, but haven’t tried it myself. If you’re willing to go to Rockville, Tooso is also very good.

Toosso is Pakistani. Similar of course, but not exactly the same.

The couple that owns Guru Grocery offers a couple of chaats for takeout. My H always picks some up when he gets groceries and they are soooo good. For a full meal of Indian takeout we usually order from Cafe of India near Tenleytown.

Commonwealth Indian in Rockville is my favorite. If you want to stick to Bethesda, Kadhai.

+2. It’s been there forever and it is hands down the best Indian food I’ve ever had.

Passage to India.
I want to ask the owner if he ever plans to reopen Spice Xing.

Not Bethesda but close enough. Biryani City in Rockville/North Bethesda

That store frustrates me. I want to like it but they stock expired biscuits and other foods past date. And their pani puri and somosas weren't good at all

I always think their samosas are delicious! Maybe you got a bad batch or something.
