Kind of OT question about park district/services in MoCo

Anonymous
Is there a park district or county services (such as swimming pools, kids arts classes, camps, etc.) for Montgomery County? I know that Fairfax county has lots of these services and we're comparing these areas for buying a house. Thanks for any info!

We love our Montgomery County Parks and Rec activities. We've done swimming and dance (rec) and ice skating (parks), as well as tons of one-off activities at the nature centers (parks). We haven't lived in Fairfax so can't compare, but the offerings are impressive compared to what we had in DC.

We do too - our kids take tennis, skating, and other classes through the Parks dept., and I've taken some good craft classes (knitting).

Another thing about Montgomery County: It values green space and parkland, whereas FFX County has mostly paved it over. It makes a big difference IMO.

We've had great experiences with the Montgomery County parks department.

Also, the City of Rockville has its own parks department and facilities/programs. Since we live inside the city limits, we've done a lot with them, and my kids have had fantastic experiences. The prices for classes and camps are quite reasonable (and the non-resident fee is generally only a few dollars more).
