I was working at <50 white high nschool school yesterday, and not a single student recite the pledge, they stood up but not a single student recite the pledge. (WORK AS a sub)
I wanted to say something, but I know the moment I say something say I'll be called a Karen. |
What did you want to say?
Who cares? Also what does race have to do with it? |
White kids are most likely to say it then non white kids. |
I want them to recite the Pledge, I was the only one in the classroom that did. |
Reciting the pledge is weird. Have you ever looked around a room where they all have their hands over their hearts reciting the same pledge? It screams cult/Nazis! |
Even 30 years ago we weren't saying it by high school, even though it was recited over the loudspeaker every morning |
Um, it's their choice. I don't even say it. Frankly, it's pretty creepy. |
Yes mine do. Daily. |
My high school was 95% white and no one said the pledge in high school. It was dorky and we were "too cool" for that. Also tired because it was first thing in the morning. |
You can't force them to recite it. The Supreme Court has even taken this on. The pledge is weird and I'm surprised it's still recited at all. |
Agree- very creepy like mini soldiers chanting. |
precisely Side note: Do you all think this was just a troll? I'm starting to get that feeling. |
The hand position was actually changed b/c it was too offensive:

Yep! From this article "Shortly thereafter, the pledge was begun with the right hand over the heart, and after reciting "to the Flag," the arm was extended toward the Flag, palm-down. In World War II, the salute too much resembled the Nazi salute, so it was changed to keep the right hand over the heart throughout." |
it’s not creepy! Many countries recite a basic pledge to their country. Show some allegiance. |
