Which MAP math test do the 8th graders take?

Anonymous
Is it MAP 6+?

Does MAP algebra have a higher ceiling?

If you refer to MAP-M, then yes. The same for 6-8.

It depends on the math they are in. Changes for algebra.

My 6th grader told me they got questions about quadratic, parabolas, logarithms, and trig. They don't know anything about trig.

You are thinking of MCAP, not MAP

Is MCAP that test the state just made up to replace a national test made by experts?

The "national test made by experts" was so bad that now only DC uses it, so it's basically a DC-specific test.

Don't think that's completely true, but regardless, it would be hard to do much worse than MCAP. Seriously, why make up your own test instead of using a proven one?

So you don't have to compare your scores with other states' scores.

That might be the case if everyone else hadn’t dropped PARCC too.
