IBS-C medication and low food map

Anonymous
I was diagnosed with IBS-C and currently on Linzess 145MG. This RX has changed my life and I finally feel great after 8 years of trying to find the proper treatment for disease. However, I’m experiencing some discomfort in the lower side of my pelvis. Is this a side effect of the drug? Also, how do you follow low food map diet for the condition? Does it help?

I have microscopic colitis and follow a low FODMAP diet. It’s a pain, but it really helps with my symptoms. I don’t have to minimize all the categories, for example, no problems with dairy. I do have to be really careful with other categories though.

It's LOW FODmap, not foodmap. It's a diet of strict, strict elimination, and slow addition. It is not a diet that you are supposed to stay on longterm. It's a very hard process that you follow to see if one tjing or another is bothering your digestion/digestive tract. You will spend three times as long in the grocery store trying to read labels and look up ingredients on your phone. It's pretty imposdible to ever eat out and stay true to LowFodmap.

FODMAP is a general term for carbohydrates that are difficult to digest especially for people with digestive issues. Following a Low FODMAP diet basically eliminates these difficult to digest carbs from your body. Since I switched to Low FODMAP, my gut health has improved a lot!
