Back to school night at high school - what to expect?

It's Walter Johnson, if that makes any difference. The school said they'd hand us our kid's schedule in their homeroom class. And then what happens? Do we meet each teacher? Go to each classroom?

They will give you a map of the school along with your child's schedule. Most schools run through the schedule from period 1 to 7, with 10 min for the teacher to introduce themselves, talk briefly about their class setup, curriculum, and expectations, and 5 min for you to get to the next class.
It's nice to introduce yourself to the teacher: "Hi Mr. Garcia, good to meet you. I'm Larla's mother", either right before or after the teacher's presentation. There is not time for any child-specific conversation. |

Yup. Plan your route in HR. In some HS it is faster to take stairs at corners of building, rather than center where everyone else heads. Wear sneakers. |

OP back again. Well, I only got lost once! All the teachers seem very competent. Now on to middle school BTSN next week. Shorter distances, I hope
