I am looking into the Westmoreland Afterschool Program. We come from another city where afterschool involves kids picking classes like baseball and chess and then, once the class is over, hanging out to play games or otherwise more or less relax until pick-up. At programs like Westmoreland and similar, it seems like the whole time is spent on board games and the like (I have a first-grader, realize there would be lots of homework for later grade. Do the kids get bored? How do they feel about the afterschool time? Is it common to sign them up separately for soccer or whatnot, and then have them rejoin the afterschool group once class is finished. Thanks for any advice/wisdom. |
