Really good Italian restaurant that is kid friendly

Anonymous
I have a family coming into town with kids 7-11 age range. They like Italian food - where should I take them in the Bethesda/Nova (willing to travel) area where there is excellent food and has a good environment for kids.

So many Italian restaurants to choose from hence recommendations appreciated. Looking for good chicken parm for kids and Cesar salad.

Maggianos? Carmines? Not necessarily fantastic but won’t care about kids being there and should have the basics you’re looking for.

I see lots of kids at Sfoglina, Van Ness.

This. No one needs to spend $24 for a bowl of spaghetti for a kid.

I think Olazzo in Bethesda is a perfectly good red sauce joint.

Honestly OP you could pick most anywhere that isn't super fine dining. I think the issue around kids in restaurants is about the 1-5 set. A 7yo should be fine...

Do they have pasta dishes (vegetarian)? All I see is meat, chicken and seafood.

I was coming to suggest Gregorio’s as well. They don’t have a lot of vegetarian dishes but they definitely have some.

Eggplant parmigiana
Zucchini Noodles and Grape Tomatoes in a Basil Pesto Sauce Topped with Parmesan Cheese
Fettuccine Alfredo
Cheese ravioli …

I’ve had vegetable pasta there before, also an entire pizza menu which come in personal sizes or larger

Il Pizzico

Not super kid-friendly, but I've taken kids without issues. Food is amazing.

I’ve been to Potomac and Reston. Reston is larger although the last time I was there they were renovating. Might be done by now it’s been several weeks.
