Is there a favorite grocery store or CSA or coop where you get your fruits and vegetables?
DH loves his Costco but its really hit or miss on quality, especially with fruit...same for grocery stores. I've had some luck with farmers markets (Old Town Alexandria) but don't see myself going every weekend. I grow my own tomatoes (yum!) but thats going to trickle off by the end of September. Any recommendations? Thank you! |

Various places.
Stone fruits and some berries - at the farmer's market Blueberries and carrots - Gus's Coop Romaine lettuce, bananas and cucumber - Trader Joe's Potatoes - Whole Foods But if I'm at Rainbow Food I might get some there, though it's very expensive so rarely go. |
| Have previously done CSAs but now use Hungry Harvest because organic is what I care about. Quality is good, selection excellent. Tried Imperfect Produce but it is not good. HH fits my life becacuse you customize every week and you only order when you want to. |

Spring & summer:
- Tomatoes, herbs, lettuce (until they bolt), spinach: my garden - Stone fruit, berries, melons, other greens (especially after mine have bolted), corn, green beans, asparagus, carrots, etc: farmers market - Onions, potatoes, other staples: any grocery store Fall: - Add apples, pears to the farmers market, or a pick your own farm - Switch back to Harris Teeter or Wegmans as things fall out of local availability at the farmers market Winter: Harris Teeter, Wegmans, or South Mountain Creamery (I get milk delivered anyway, so a produce bag is an easy add-on). |
| Mostly TJ and we eat a lot of fruits and veggies. There quality is great for a lot of basics items and the produce they seasonally stock is excellent. Just bought a giant container of fresh figs there. Costco sometimes- it really depends. Occasionally a regular grocery store if I’m wanting a giant bunch of parsley or herbs or something |

MOM’s, Wegmans and Lotte for veg.
Wegmans for fruit, though I’ll sometimes buy whatever looks good at Costco or TJ. |
| Farmers market May through October, Giant the rest of the year. |
| Frozen foods section |
| Mom’s, Aldi and Asian markets. |
| Whole foods and Asian grocery stores. Occasionally farmers markets in the summer, and Safeway for convenience. |
| HMart and Lidl |
| Costco |
| +1 for Costco. But we will buy things like bananas and herbs from the grocery store since we go through those quickly. |

Farmers market. No comparison to ant grocery.
In winter I buy from Whole Foods, except bananas which I get at Safeway. |
| A mix of Giant, Wegmans, and Lotte Market. Lotte is great for vegetables, fruits and herbs that aren't sold in the other three, like Chinese broccoli, perilla leaves, Thai basil, and Asian pears (yum). Lotte's prices tend to be a bit more reasonable than the other two, also. Occasionally I'll go to the Kentlands and Kensington farmers markets, but I wouldn't say I go regularly, and I don't tend to buy produce there--rather, meat, eggs and baked goods. |
