| We needed this done in one room, we called the carpenter who had made our deck, and he had no trouble doing the joist work. He wasn't interested in dealing with flooring, we hired a flooring company for that. |

What was the cost for each contractor? |

The initial quote on the carpentry was higher, but it turned out to be about one day of work and not much lumber, I think about $700. The floor company needed to feather in some new boards and refinish the room, that was more, maybe $1000-$1200, possibly dictated by their minimums. This was a small room, but we were expecting much worse when we first noticed a section of the floor was sagging. Once we spoke with the carpenter it turned out to be routine, and now you'd never know it had been done. |
