Anyone tried both? I love Biossance products because of their commitment to clean beauty, but I can't decide if the sample bottle I got is better than Good Genes which costs a lot more but works great. Thanks. |
IMO good genes works WAY better. Biossance products always makes me break out, but I also have very acne-prone skin. |
Bump |
This is like a foreign language to me. |
I started using good genes again after trying a bunch of other cheaper stuff. It just works better. I'm also using their A+ retinol and CEO glow. Cerave am/pm moisturizers and plain old dove soap to wash.

Not what you are asking but I really like the lactic acid 10% +HA from The Ordinary and I have tried samples of both the Biossance and Sunday Riley products mentioned. |
Biossance is perfect for my sensitive, dry skin. The Ordinary is much to harsh and drunk elephant is very irritating. |
Sunday Riley usually has a good Black Friday sale. I haven’t tried other products but love good genes and A+ |
Bumping this. OP here. Biossance is having a big sale and i'm still debating. I love Biossance products but have used Good Genes for so long. I hate buying products, especially when not dirt-cheap, and not using them. |
Good Genes all the way. It’s the best active you can get over the counter IMO. |
I like both, but Good Genes definitely wins me more “your skin looks great!” responses.
I’m trying to decide if I should stop using it now I’ve got Retin-A cream. Not sure if it’d be superfluous to use GG on the nights I don’t use the tretinoin. |
OP here. Thanks for the responses. Confirms my sense that Good Genes is just better. It smells nicer too!
To PP: I use a retinol too (not tretinoin which I can't tolerate - I use Skinbetter Alpharet). I used to use it every night until I realized that incorporating Good Genes once or twice a week instead really made a difference in brightness. Derms will tell you that it's superfluous but I like the extra exfoliation. |
I've been hearing a lot about Sunday Riley Good Genes lately, so I'm tempted to try it. Tell me though is it a serum? I see it described as a "treatment" on the Sunday Riley website, so am assuming it's a serum you layer on with the rest of your serums? Anyone use this product? |
To be perfectly honest, after trying a whole bunch of expensive stuff including Good Genes, I have come to the conclusion that it's best to listen to dermatologists, and just focus on ingredients, not brands. I am currently using Tretinoin, Vitamin C (The Ordinary powder), Alpha Arbutin and HA (The Ordinary), Niacinamide (Good Molecules) and Sunscreen (Biore). For me, Good Genes did absolutely nothing. |
In my experience, Good Genes and the 10% + Lactic Acid from the Ordinary work about the same. I prefer Good Genes but not worth the cost difference.
However, diligent use of tretinoin starting with .01% (I use curology) has made the biggest overall difference. |
