Looking for a good personal trainer who is good at posture, core training, weights etc but for a beginner who needs help due to bad posture -
What gyms have a good personal trainer in the area ? - mostly in Bethesda/DC line. To many fitness places to look on my own. |
Maybe look at CrossFit Koncepts. It’s not too far and the owner is an amazing trainer. |
To add, it’s not traditional crossfit. Much more focused on you and improving your abilities. Classes are small so you get as much 1:1 as you need. |
The best is somewhere you'll actually go. So close to you, easy parking, convenient hours, whatever you need.
I really like the personal trainers at DC Health Coaches, underneath Broad Branch Market in Chevy Chase DC. They are small, so they really get to know you and your likes/dislikes and it never feels crowded or self-conscious. https://www.dchealthcoaches.com/ |
Fitness Together in Bethesda. It is entirely a personal training gym with 3 separate studios. They will work with you on everything you need and at your pace. Best experience I’ve had at the gym and with personal trainers |
Sport & Health - great classes and personal trainers |
Steve at Rock Creek Sports Club on Grubb Road - He is knowledgeable and keeps training challenging over time. |
Make sure your trainer actually has a degree in Kinesiology. Not just a pocketful of "certificates" that you can earn in a weekend. |
Totally agree with this. Look for a degree in exercise science or kinesiology. Very good understanding of anatomy is critical to be a good trainer and most PTs who only have their three month certificate can barely tell their knee from their a**. I had a good experience with TFN training in McLean but they might be too far from you. In DC avoid Ultimate Performance. |
I didn't have a great experience with the trainers at Sport & Health (Old Town & Arlington). YMMV. |
Agree except that some of those certificates are much much harder to earn unless you already have an exercise related degree. They’re not a simple weekend course. You do need to weed through the gym bros though and get someone skilled. |
Same at another location. I think their salespeople work this forum. |
Yep- I love the one at Pike & Rose but there are others. Strongly recommend- they were the perfect mix of encouraging and realistic when I recently started working out after a long, long time off. |
LOL at this "exercise degree" crap. |
Agree. Someone with a college degree can't afford to work for $20 an hour as a personal trainer. |
