Can A Professional Carpet Cleaner Clean This Out?

Anonymous
My cat recently passed away & I was moving some major furniture (beds, sofas, wall units, etc.) where I have found multiple sections of carpet with dried up cat feces.
I knew my cat was having litter box issues but never realized that he was defecating under the beds or behind large bookcases and such.
And since I am pretty much cat nose blind I didn’t notice any bad smell.

The dried feces looks to be very old.
I recently sprayed the affected areas with Nature’s Miracle, let it set then attempted to vacuum it up.
Major fail.
It still is there, dried very hard into the carpet.
Very stubborn.

Since I am renting my house, I want to call a professional carpet steam cleaner.
Do you think it can remove dried cat feces from my carpet??
Last resort is to replace entire house carpeting but that is a $1,300 household expense so is a last resort.

Please help!

Honestly you should just replace the carpet. There is surely urine soaked into the pad.

If you can’t afford it, you can rent a carpet cleaner machine from the hardware store. You don’t have to use the expensive cleaning solution, just tell them you have some left over from last time.

Scrap off as much as you can with a paint scraper or a butter knife.

Then fully soak the areas in Nature’s Miracle. Not spray. Buy the gallon container and pour it all over the areas. I would let that sit overnight.

Fill the reservoir of the machine with hot water and a DROP (seriously, not more than that) of Tide HE. It needs to be HE because the other version is too foamy.

Then run it over the areas a bunch of times.

OP Here, Thx for your comprehensive response.

I will definitely try your plan!

The cleaning solution from the rental place isn't THAT pricy and it works! You might talk to them about which one to use n pet stains.

I am a person who hates perfumes so I dislike them for that reason, plus they're so overpriced. I already have unscented Tide in my house which works beautifully. I've also mixed oxiclean with hot water and used that. It works great - I would do a plain water rinse cycle after.

OP, your nose doesn’t register the cat smell but it will be very obvious to anyone else even if you try to clean the carpet. Your landlord might require you to replace it.
