silly question about beauty habits

I'm 40 and fit and dating. I have fair skin and like using self-tanner to give me some color, especially in the summer. I've been dating someone and we're going to the beach tomorrow and I was going to apply some tonight. He will definitely notice since he saw me this morning and my skin was much lighter.

For some reason I feel self-conscious about this, but don't want to change my routine. Men, would this turn you off? Should I acknowledge it?

What self tanner do you use that it is that noticeable?

Also, I really don’t think men notice that much.

Seriously he might not notice

I don’t think most men would think very hard about this. He might (but probably won’t) notice that your skin tone is darker, but he won’t really delve into why because men don’t care as long as you are (get ready for the chorus) skinny and pretty.

OP: I use one from Il Makiage and it definitely makes me look like I just returned from vacation.

OP: okay. I was wondering because his family is from the Middle East and he has naturally olive skin (and his ex-wife does too), so this might be a foreign concept to him - why someone would use this product.

Np here. Given that information he'll definitely notice. Middle Easterners can be very colorist and the even have whitening products in their stored. Some men prefer a lighter complected wife.

I would go with your normal routine. Buthis views and his family views on colorism is something you want to learn about

I am Middle Eastern.

No one cares.

He probably finds your natural skin tone more attractive as a result of his own cultural conditioning, but we all know understand that white women tan and like to look tan. It’s not some sort of mystery.

OP: that's interesting. When we were first dating, I had gone on vacation and gotten a spray tan and showed him a photo, and he commented that he loved how tan I was. So I think he actually likes the color (I didn't tell him that it wasn't a natural tan from the sun).

LADY. You should do WHAT YOU LIKE, not what some guy thinks you should do. Why TF do you want to give up something that makes you feel good because you're afraid he won't like it? Do you think he'd give up eating a burger because he's afraid you don't like the look of a bloated stomach? No.

He’s not going to notice and if he does notice he won’t think it’s because you used il makiage. enjoy the beach!
