getting rid of vinca

There's a contained section of the yard that is just over run with vinca. I don't like the look of it. Dig it up? Is there a better time of year to tackle this? Right now it's an overflowing sloppy mess.

Dig it up asap. It soaks up so much of the water and nutrients for surrounding plants that it all but kills them. Just make sure to get the runners. We had a two bed of pachysandra more or less get taken over by vinca before we decided to get rid of both and go native.

I'm fighting a bed with vinca as well. I keep pulling it out but it returns each year. Luckily I got a big section cleared last fall and my bee balm came back this year. It is giving me hope that I can win the battle.

I'm pushing some back slowly--but yes, it seems to be that you have to just keep pulling/digging it up. It's probably easier just after a heavy rain--so maybe this weekend?

I'm trying to wipe out a very large section of my yard (it's a hill) that is covered in vinca, pachysandra, and various ivies. I'm killing it because I'm tired of the honeysuckle vines growing up through it and then looking just terrible and also the ivy is now the predominant plant where it used to be vinca and the ivies are growing up my fence and tress, etc so I'm going to kill it all and then decide what to do. I used Ortho ground Clear and that didn't do much to anything except the Honeysuckle. Two weeks later, I then used RoundUp and that hammered all the vinca. It's all brown but the ivies scoffed at it. I just bought some Round Up Poison Ivy and Tough Brush Killer. I'm going to weed whack it all and then spray this new Round up on it. We'll see how that works. But for Vinca...Straight RoundUp did a good job killing it. Good Luck.
