Going to Washington Mystics arena in SE- safe?

Anonymous
I am not from DC. I'm going to a boxing event in the evening at the Washington Mystics arena in Southeast DC. Is this area safe? Can I take the metro? Anything else I should know?

You will be okay, but don’t wonder off to much into the surrounding areas

I wouldn’t go across that bridge for any reason. But to attend a boxing event? Unless the ticket prices are stratospheric and the organizers have hired Blackwater-level security, don’t go.

(tell me you're a racist without telling me you're a racist)

OP, you will be fine.

- someone who works *gasp* "across the bridge"

Oh please. We've been there several times and it's a really nice venue.

So, you wouldn’t think about going to Nats Park?

Nats Park is on the Capital side of the bridge. And to be honest, isn’t in the safest neighborhood either.

I work near there. The arena is near Barry Farm, which was notorious for crime.

My colleagues said to never stop in the area, if my car had trouble call one of them right away.

It’s being redeveloped so maybe it’s better…. But for an evening BOXING event boggles the mind.

Maybe more boxing matches in the parking lot than in the arena 🥊
